Black Maternal Health Week is not symbolic for us at Chicago Volunteer Doulas. It is lived work, and daily practice for our community.
This year, we’re centering Community Doula Week—because the work of CVDoulas isn’t theoretical. It’s happening right now in homes, hospitals, and community spaces across Chicago.
And we’re bringing that work directly to you.
🌿Rooted in Community:
Black Maternal Health Week Chicago Resource Swap
On April 13 from 12 PM–6 PM, we’re opening our doors for a community resource swap and connection day. This is how we build care networks in real time.
😎 Come as you are:
Bring resources
Receive resources
Or both
No gatekeeping. No requirements. Just community.
🌿What You’ll Find
Baby supplies and postpartum essentials
Breastfeeding and safe sleep resources
Mental health and HIV support information
Community clinics and food access programs
Postpartum support groups
Direct connection to CVDoulas
🌿In Collaboration with Healing to Action
This event is held in partnership with Healing to Action, an organization working to end gender-based violence by building the leadership and collective power of communities most impacted—transforming survivors from being seen as “victims” to powerful leaders in the movement for change.
Because birth justice, bodily autonomy, and community safety are deeply connected.
🌿Rooted in Justice & Joy
For us, this means:
Justice → Access to Doula care, advocacy, reproductive rights, education
Joy → Healthy births, supported families, culturally affirming care, thriving CVDoulas
We are not just observing Black Maternal Health Week.
We are actively building the solutions year-round.
