As part of our CVDoula Spotlight, we’re taking time to recognize Annise P.—a Doula whose work reflects the heart of what care, connection, and community truly look like.
Annise shows up with intention, compassion, and a deep belief that no one should have to navigate birth alone. Her journey into this work wasn’t by chance; it was alignment.
What drew you to become a CVDoula?
“Everything aligned at just the right time… Becoming a Doula had been on my heart for so long—I prayed about it, I sought it, and I knew I was being called to it. Then I came across the 100 Doulas Rising Program… and I just knew—this was my moment. Becoming a CVDoula wasn’t by chance; it was a divine connection.”
What does birthwork mean to you personally?
“Birthwork is LOVE in action. It’s showing up with calm, gentle, knowledgeable support during one of the most life-changing moments a person will ever experience. It’s about helping birthing people feel seen, heard, and empowered… I truly believe no one should have to walk this journey alone.”
What’s a moment that has stayed with you in your Doula journey?
“My very first Doula baby… it was pure magic! I found myself right there with mom, even climbing into the bed to support her as she transitioned into birth. Witnessing her bring life earthside—that moment is forever etched in my heart.”
What do you enjoy outside of birthwork?
“I love creating with my hands—crafting, designing, and turning simple things into something beautiful. It fills my cup and feeds my creativity.”
Annise’s story is a reminder that birthwork is not just about being present—it’s about how you show up in that presence. With care. With intention. With love.
This is what it means to be a CVDoula. You can be part of our collective mission—advancing healthier birth outcomes and a safe, supported first year.
☕ Support the work that supports families. You probably buy a cup of coffee or tea more than once a month—what if one of those went toward supporting a family instead?
Through our Cuppa for a Doula campaign, your everyday spend helps make Doula care accessible when it’s needed most.
