Starting May 1, 2025, Chicago Volunteer Doulas is entering a brief organizational Pause, with plans to resume client services in July.
This intentional break is an opportunity to reflect, reset, and rebuild the systems that support our work, so we can continue to show up for birthing families with strength and sustainability.
During this Pause, we’re:
Restructuring our programs for deeper impact
Re-evaluating how we serve clients and community partners
Clarifying our communication and outreach
Completing strategic planning for the years ahead
And most importantly, resting
Because in this highly political moment, those who care for labor and laboring people deserve rest, too.
💜 If You’re a Current CVD Client: You’ll continue receiving the support you’ve been matched for. No changes to your care.
✨ If You’re Seeking Doula Support: We won’t be accepting new requests during this time, but we’ve compiled a trusted list of referrals — including doulas, prenatal classes (available in English and Spanish), and other community-based resources to help meet your needs.
💬 Office Hours During the Pause:
Our admin team will be available on Tuesdays through Thursdays, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. If you have questions or need assistance during this time, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
We’re deeply grateful for your patience, trust, and understanding during this period of transition.
We’ll be back in July — recommitted to our mission: providing meaningful, compassionate care to the families who call on us.
