CVD and Kola Nut Collaborative are teaming up to build stronger community connections as we establish our new home in Little Village. We're embracing timebanking—a service exchange system that leverages the skills and resources within our community. Through timebanking, we're not just preparing our new space for a grand opening, but also fostering a network of mutual support and social capital.

Who is the Kola Nut Collaborative?

Kola Nut Collaborative is a Chicago-based timebanking network that promotes community building through service exchanges. Their key initiative, The Time Salon, facilitates conversations on integrating timebanking into community strategies, making it a perfect fit for CVD's mission.

What We Need and Offer

We need help with tasks like plumbing, drywall, and painting. In return, we offer Doula support, communal space for events, volunteers, and tech consultations. By participating, you're joining a broader movement that values social capital and the collective strength of our community.

Why This Matters

Timebanking isn't just about exchanging services—it's about building social capital, as seen in successful initiatives like Grace Hill Settlement House's Member Organized Resource Exchange (M.O.R.E.).
